The Art of Improvisation

Jazz up your Communications

Let’s talk about Jazz…

…and how it can help us to cope with ambiguity and uncertainty.

How can we prepare ourselves for an unpredictable future? How can we prevent – or at least: predict – the next crisis after pandemic, war and recession?

The answer: we can’t. (That’s probably why it’s called ‘unpredictable’.)

“LIFE IS WHAT HAPPENS TO US WHEN WE ARE BUSY MAKING OTHER PLANS.”

– John Lennon

All the data analyses, all the scenarios and contingency plans will not save us from suddenly finding ourselves in an unexpected situation. As corporate communications, we must then be able to act.

Jazz can teach us to be “prepared to be unprepared”, as the saxophonist Lee Konitz put it. To see improvisation not as a last resort, but as an art form that can be trained.

That’s what JazzComms is all about.
